The survivors of Earth’s greatest mass extinctions at end of the Permian entered the Triassic to repopulate the world. Around Lake Mead National Recreation Area, some of these early survivors were running around mud flats along the edge of the ocean here in southern Nevada. Current research is investigating what animals left their impressions in the mud.
