The History of Mining in the Silver State: A step back in time to the Tonopah Historic Mining Park, Nevada

Mining is one of the most important industries in Nevada. Take a step back in time to what was one of the most booming cities in Nevada, Tonopah. In 1900 prospector Jim Bulter, came across what would become one of the richest gold deposits of its time. The discovery brought people from far and wide to this mining town to live, work, play, and entertain! Such an iconic and important story of Nevada and the mining industry that still holds today! Come along VIRTUALLY on this historic adventure through the Tonopah Mining Park to get a glimpse of the buildings, artifacts, equipment, technology, and mine shafts that are preserved at the Park. The Nevada Center staff and Docent Jeff Martin Sr. from the Park will bring you along this STEM adventure.

Fossils, Rocks, and History of Spring Mountain Ranch State Park with Ranger
Tune into a scenic Virtual Field Trip to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park with the Nevada Science Center team and Ranger Joshua. This State Park sits in a very geologically and paleontologically interesting location in southern Nevada, adjacent to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The NSC team will talk about why this area is so interesting in terms of rocks and fossils. Ranger Josh will explain the history of the Park and its significance to the history of southern Nevada.
